Privacy Policy

CruiseGrid is a cruise search engine. We do not require accounts and we do not sell anything directly — when you find a sailing you like, we send you to the cruise line's own website to book. This page explains the limited data we do collect, why, and what your choices are.
What we collect
- Search activity. When you run a search, the filters you choose are part of the URL. We use that URL to render your results and may log it in standard server access logs.
- Affiliate clicks. When you click an outbound “View sailing” link, we record the sailing ID, a shortcode, the referring page, your browser's user-agent string, and a randomly-generated session identifier. This is used to measure which sailings get attention and to validate affiliate commissions with the cruise line.
- Product analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the site is used in aggregate — page views, button clicks, conversion funnels. PostHog sets a first-party cookie and stores a random identifier in your browser's local storage. We do not upload any personally identifying information to PostHog.
- Advertising measurement. We use Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking to measure the effectiveness of marketing we run. Google sets first-party cookies that let it attribute a booking-button click back to an ad you may have seen. We do not pass your name, email, or any other personal identifier to Google. You can opt out of Google's ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records the standard HTTP metadata that any web server sees: IP address, request path, response code, timestamp, user-agent.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, so no email, name, or password.
- No payment information — bookings happen on the cruise line's site.
- No location tracking beyond IP-level geography in standard logs.
- We do not buy data from third parties.
- We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
Cookies and tracking
We use a small number of first-party cookies and local-storage entries for product analytics (PostHog) and advertising measurement (Google). You can block cookies in your browser settings; the site will continue to work, but our analytics and ad-attribution will undercount your visit.
Your privacy choices
On your first visit we show a notice that you can use to opt out of analytics cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the “Your privacy choices” link in the footer of every page. Opting out turns off both our product analytics and advertising-measurement cookies on this device and stops the matching server-side analytics for your outbound clicks.
We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser or a privacy extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and disable analytics automatically — you don't need to do anything else.
Affiliate disclosure
CruiseGrid earns a commission when you book a cruise after clicking one of our outbound links. The price you pay is the same as booking the cruise line directly. We do not let commission rates influence search rankings.
How long we keep data
Affiliate-click logs are retained as long as needed to reconcile commissions with the cruise lines — typically up to 24 months — and then aggregated or deleted. Server access logs are rotated by our hosting provider on a standard schedule (typically 30–90 days). PostHog analytics events are retained according to PostHog's default retention.
Your rights
If you are in a jurisdiction that gives you rights over personal data (e.g. CCPA, GDPR), email us at hello@cruisegrid.co and we'll do our best to honor a reasonable request. Because we do not run user accounts, the only data tied to you specifically is whatever your browser sent — clearing your cookies and local storage typically removes any link back to your visits.
Children
CruiseGrid is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes
We'll update this page when our data practices change and bump the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be called out at the top.
